Writing in the Time/CNN blog Swampland, Joe Klein points out that John McCain wants to tax our health insurance benefits while opposing any increase in taxes on oil companies. Is any additional proof needed that the McCain-Palin ticket is no friend of working families ?
Klein writes:
John McCain wants to tax your employer-provided health care benefits. He wants to replace those benefits with an insufficient tax credit--$2500 for individuals and $5000 for families (the average cost per family for health insurance is $12000).
There is a positive, progressive tax aspect to this: wealthier people should have to pay for health insurance themselves, without tax breaks from the federal government.
But make no mistake: this plan will do little or nothing for those who do not have insurance now--unless they are young and healthy--and it may well hurt a fair number of workers, especially unionized workers, who get gold-plated benefits from their employers.
It will certainly do nothing for families with members who have pre-existing conditions or children with special needs--because it makes no provision to regulate the insurers, forcing them to cover all comers at "community" rates that don't discriminate against the people who need health insurance most.
It is amazing to me that the Obama campaign has let things go this far without pointing out that McCain--who opposes the energy bill because it would increase taxes on oil companies--is actually proposing a tax increase on health care benefits for American workers. But that is precisely what the Senator from Arizona is doing.

Klein's statements are right out of the Obama talking points play-book. Anyone who believes that John McCain and/or Sarah Palin wants to tax the health benefits of “Special Needs” children is on drugs. Go to www.johnmccain.com and look at the man's plan!
How can “Pro-Family” working class Democrats ever take back “The Peoples Party” from the Radically Wrong (who took it over in 1972), if we keep nominating Far-Left candidates, who want to promote tax and spend policies, government run health-care, killing babies for convenience and whatever the anti-war “Wing-Nuts” want?
My younger brother is a Republican and he asked me when the last time was that we (Democrats) had a tax-cutting, Pro-Life President in the White House, to which I responded, 1963 and they shot him!
Then I had to endure his punch-line...when he said: “You do realize that if JFK were running for the Presidency today, he would have to run as a Republican?”
“Right Democrat,” we need to wake up and smell the coffee. We are going to have ANOTHER Republican administration, because “Reagan Democrats” (like me) are not buying what Obama is selling!

Today McCain said he'd "been tested" in 1963, sitting on an aircraft carrier near Cuba, during the Cuban Missle Crisis.
It's unclear if by "tested" he was referring to his FIVE carelessly lost aircraft, or only several of them...
Other McCain tests were his carelessly wasted opportunity at Annapolis, his Reagan-denounced adultery, the ludicrous Palin appointment, and of course his politically recycled and recycled and recycled captivity.
Obama is closer to Reagan than McCain is, primarily because it's Obama who puts Country First.
